Our mission at Onward House is to open doors to improve lives and uplift communities through education, economic empowerment, and human services.

Our strength is our ability to adapt to societal changes.

In the early 20th Century, people in the West Town community needed food, clothing and
shelter – and Onward House responded.

Today, at our current location in Belmont Cragin, adult education and affordable child care rank among the community’s greatest needs. Onward House is one of the area’s major providers of high-quality Early Childhood Education, and a comprehensive provider of Adult Education.

Onward House’s programming focus includes:

→ Education for children, youth, and adults
→ Workforce development centered on computer classes for adult learners and business owners
→ Support by connecting families with additional services, including our food pantry, a health clinic run by CommunityHealth, and an Illinois Welcoming Center
