Families with young children often have limited affordable education and care options. Onward Neighborhood House’s Early Childhood Education Program is designed to meet the needs of children and parents seeking to better their lives. The year-round, full-day preschool services allow parents to work full time, pursue their education, and support their families without having to worry about their child’s safety and educational development.

Onward House’s Early Childhood Education Program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in recognition of our programming excellence—a prestigious accreditation earned by less than 10% of all daycare providers. We are accredited by ExceleRate Illinois with a certificate for attainment of Gold Circle Quality.

We offer two program enrollment options:

In addition to children served through our Center-Based or Home-Based programs, Onward House serves children with Head Start services through our Partnership Program with two private providers in Austin.

  • Fee: Program fees for childcare services are determined according to a sliding scale. Parents participating in the Early Childhood Program are required to be in school or working a minimum of 25 hours per week.

Hours of Operation: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

What makes Onward House unique: Onward House offers children and parents a formal curriculum for the classrooms, the Creative Curriculum, which promotes the cognitive, linguistic, social, and physical development of young children. All children in the Early Childhood Program are served a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack. Our Home-Based program uses the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum .
