A Bridge Home is a temporary volunteer corps dedicated to bringing Onward Neighborhood House’s mission of providing education, economic empowerment, and human services directly to the homes of community members who are homebound or hesitant to leave. This initiative, launched in October 2025, ensures that no one is left behind in times of fear and insecurity.
While many Onward House services can and have increasingly been provided virtually for threatened community members, the Food Pantry program cannot. To address this, volunteers will serve as Bridge Builders, bringing vital resources directly to the people who need them most. These volunteers will pack and deliver food, a critical service for our community members which will supplement our current work of conducting wellness checks, offering tutoring and digital navigation support, and ultimately extending dignity, safety, and connection into every household we serve.
This program builds on trusted relationships with program partners, suburban networks, and faith communities. Together, we will launch a coordinated system that is safe, reliable, and compassionate.
Through A Bridge Home, we are not just delivering services—we are strengthening trust, building community, and ensuring that every neighbor has a bridge to the support they need.
