Remembering Hank Marshall

It is with great sadness we share the news that Prentice (Hank) Marshall, Jr., our Board President, passed away this past Friday. Hank was a loyal supporter of Onward Neighborhood House, standing as Board President for many years and always leading Onward House with grace and dignity. We will forever miss his dedicated and loving spirit, we truly lost a great friend and volunteer that will never be forgotten.

Throughout his leadership on the board including Vice-President and President roles over the past 20 years, he was instrumental in the transition of Onward House from West Town, a gentrifying community we have been serving since the late 1800’s, to Belmont Cragin on the northwest side of Chicago. This effort to transition to Belmont Cragin ensured Onward House will continue to be a strong and vibrant community resource for many years to come. During his leadership with the Board of Directors, not only did he oversee the transition but also the expansion of the services the organization provides to the community. Hank always approached any challenge with strength and determination, this was evident throughout his tenure as President. He made many friends during his time here and always loved to spend time with our Onward House families.

Please join us in sending kind thoughts to his many friends at Sidley to whom he turned to many times for help in supporting Onward House. Please keep the entire Marshall Family in your thoughts and prayers.
